All-season tires
"All-season" covers two very different families in Quebec: the classic all-season, which is not legal in winter, and the all-weather tire carrying the mountain-snowflake symbol, which is legal from December 1 to March 15.

Walk-ins are always welcome 7 days a week in Dorval, but a reserved slot guarantees you a priority bay and no waiting.
All-season or all-weather?
A classic all-season is marked M+S: fine from spring to fall, not legal in a Quebec winter. An all-weather tire carries the mountain-snowflake, runs year-round and suits moderate city use. It wears faster in summer than a summer tire and brakes less well than a true winter tire on ice.
- M+S only: not compliant December 1 to March 15
- Mountain-snowflake: compliant all year
- Only one set to store and mount
Who it suits
An all-weather tire makes sense for a low-mileage car that stays on the island and parks in a garage: one set, no seasonal swap, no storage. For a driver doing highway kilometres, heading to the Laurentians or leaving early in the morning, two sets stay safer and often cheaper per kilometre.
Frequently asked questions
Is an all-season tire legal in a Quebec winter?
Only if it carries the mountain-snowflake pictogram. An M+S marking alone is not compliant from December 1 to March 15.
